Vietnam
Selected animation for Jeremy Musher’s documentary.
Work in progress.
Letting the
drawing move.
I’m making hand-drawn animation for Jeremy Musher’s documentary, working with charcoal textures, shifting viewpoints and drawings that appear and disappear on the page.
These separate excerpts show different parts of that work: a helicopter drawn into a landscape, movement through a bunker and a closer view of a notebook. A character drawing below gives a closer look at the charcoal marks.

01 / Moving viewpoint
Through
the bunker.
The viewpoint moves through the drawn space. Figures pass across the frame, while the rough charcoal marks remain visible.
02 / Painted detail
A closer look
at the page.
A quieter shot of hands and a notebook. Colour comes into the drawing without losing the loose lines and paper texture.

03 / Character drawing
One drawing,
up close.
One of my drawings for the running soldier. The broken edges, dark shapes and small areas of light give the figure its weight without outlining every detail.
04 / Staging
A change
of viewpoint.
A separate excerpt from the alert scene. The movement shifts from the figures inside the bunker towards the view outside.

From a drawn mark
to a moving scene.
Shared with Jeremy Musher’s permission. The documentary is unreleased, so only individual excerpts are shown. “Vietnam” is a portfolio working label, not the film’s final title.
