There's a feeling you get when something has been made by hand. Not just made well. Made by someone who actually sat with it, understood what it meant, and cared which way the light fell in a frame that only lasted half a second on screen.
That's the difference between animation that functions and 2D hand-drawn animation that stays with people long after the screen goes dark.
We make the kind of hand-drawn animation that connects not because everything is polished, but because you can feel the intention in every frame. The wobbly line that was left there on purpose. The watercolour that bleeds just enough. The movement that was allowed to breathe.
Fig & Frame is a small batch hand-drawn animation studio specialising in frame-by-frame 2D animation for documentary film, brand storytelling, music videos and businesses that want something that still feels human.
If you are making something that matters to you, and you need animation that treats it with love and respect, this is probably the right place for you.

Some stories just need to be drawn by hand...
We believe the most meaningful stories often happen in the quiet, in-between spaces. Not the big dramatic moments, but the pauses. A look, a shift of light, a hand reaching out. The stuff that inexplicably sits with you days later and you're not even sure why. That's the kind of animation we try to make. Work that doesn't shout but stays. 2D hand-drawn animation for the stories that deserve to be felt, not just watched once and forgotten.
Some stories move you not because they're loud but because they hum with something real. Our hand-drawn 2D animation is made to carry that feeling, the kind that doesn't just look alive but sits with you long after you've watched it.
Not everything needs to be polished to be powerful. Our frame by frame animation keeps the rough edges, the raw textures, the emotion that only comes through when a real person's hand is in every drawing. That's what sets hand-drawn illustration apart.
Our 2D animation is grounded in the everyday. The ordinary, fleeting moments that hold all the weight. We don't just animate motion, we protect the honest, human feeling inside it. That's what makes animated storytelling connect.
Sometimes the quietest frames carry the most. As a boutique animation studio, we draw with intention, letting silence, space and subtlety do the heavy lifting in every hand-drawn frame.
Beyond visual style, we care about the feeling a scene leaves behind. Our approach to frame by frame illustration is slow, thoughtful and emotionally considered so the work lingers long after it ends.
We make hand-drawn animation that's designed to be felt, not just seen. Every frame is illustrated by hand with the care and warmth that only comes from a boutique animation studio working without pipelines or shortcuts. Documentary animation, brand storytelling, independent creative projects, all drawn frame by frame and made to stay with people.

Everything Fig and Frame makes comes back to one thing. Does it feel like a human made it. Not perfect, not optimised, not generated, polished or on trend.
Felt.
The kind of hand-drawn animation where you can see the consideration, the care, the hours someone spent getting a single frame right.
Right now 2D animation is being replaced by pipelines and AI-generated content. And most people can feel it even if they can't put it into words yet. Fig and Frame is a boutique hand-drawn 2D animation studio built to protect what's being lost. The wobble in the line, the texture in the frame, the quiet proof that someone actually sat with your story before they drew it.
I don't think that's a style choice. I think that's the whole point. Hand-drawn frame by frame animation for documentary filmmakers, brands and independent creators who want animated storytelling that connects because a real person made it..
Hi, I'm Liam. The animator behind Fig & Frame.
I'm involved in every stage of a project. Storyboarding, character design, hand-drawn illustration, frame by frame 2D animation, colouring, post-production. I kind of do all of it and I think that's what gives the hand-drawn animation its consistency.
When the same person is making every decision from the first sketch to the final frame, you can feel it.
Everything connects because the same hands carried it through.
When a project needs more than just me I bring in a small group of trusted collaborators I've worked with before. People who understand 2D animation the way I do and care about protecting the same feeling in every hand-drawn frame.
But the creative direction, the illustration, the frame by frame animation that makes the work feel the way it does, that always starts and ends with me.
I guess that's what Fig and Frame really is. A boutique hand-drawn animation studio that's small on purpose. Because the best animated storytelling doesn't come from bigger teams. It comes from someone who sat with the story long enough to know what every frame of 2D hand-drawn animation actually needed.
Fine art background, self-taught animator, and the person behind every frame of hand-drawn 2D animation that leaves this studio. He cares more about how something makes you feel than how clean it looks.
